Production sound mixer in New Orleans
Clean, usable dialogue on location, from a local mixer with 15+ years on film and TV sets.
I am Ben Sellers, a New Orleans production sound mixer born and raised in south Louisiana. I have recorded sound for productions from National Geographic, CNN, Showtime, and Lifetime, and I serve as a local anchor for crews coming into the area.
What I record
- Interviews and sit-down dialogue
- Verite scenes and run-and-gun documentary
- Live music and event audio
- Natural, urban, and suburban ambience
- Commercial and branded content
- Production sound supervision for series work
Recent production sound credits
- IMPACT: Killer Red Fox (National Geographic): verite, interviews, drone footage
- Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown (CNN): verite scenes, live music, event ambience
- Murder in the Bayou (Showtime): interviews, verite, ambience
- Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up (Lifetime): production sound supervisor and camera operator
- Alvin Kamara for Adidas: interview, live music, ambience
Why it matters in post
I also work as a sound designer and mixer, so I record with the final mix in mind. That means fewer dialogue fixes, cleaner ambience, and a better-sounding finished product.
Questions
Can you also shoot video or fly a drone?
Yes. I am an experienced camera operator and licensed drone pilot, so one person can cover sound and picture on smaller productions.
Do you work outside New Orleans?
Yes. I work across New Orleans and South Louisiana, and I am happy to hear about travel.
